Best Year in Dura-Shine Clean History

It’s that time of the year again. A time to reflect on all that we have accomplished in the previous year and a time to look forward to all that can be accomplished this year. We want to thank everyone who made 2013 the best year ever at Dura-Shine Clean. We could not have done it without the great team of people who work for us, our amazing clients, and without the amazing community support we have received.

Here are a few of our 2013 highlights:

  • In February, we were selected as the Tri-Cities Regional Chamber Member of the Month.

  • In May, Dura-Shine Clean was honored as the 2013 Mid Columbia Small Business of the Year.

  • In late May, we celebrated the opening of our new corporate headquarters facility in Pasco,   Washington. Over 300 guests and friends attended our grand opening, which included much   celebration and a flash mob during the ceremony.

  • In September Dura-Shine Clean was honored with the Pasco Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award.

  • In late October, our newly designed website received a Marcom International Gold Award for animation design.

  • We continued our partnership with the Cleaning for a Reason Foundation, proudly cleaning over 50 homes for local women battling cancer.

  • We honored our commitment to be a strong community partner by continuing to give back and  be involved in many causes and volunteer efforts in the cities we serve.

We were inspired by many of the recognitions we received in 2013. We are fired up and focused on continuing to provide great services to our clients in 2014! Thank you for being a part of the Dura-Shine Clean family and we wish you much success and happiness in 2014!

Winter Driving: Stay Safe When the Roads are Tricky

Winter Driving: Stay Safe When the Roads are Tricky

Winter is far from over, and whether you drive on the job or just to and from work, safety on the road is trickier on icy or slippery streets. Avoid becoming another traffic statistic by following these basic winter driving tips.

  • Slow down. Remember that you need more room to stop when roads are slick or visibility is poor.

  • Check your engine. Make sure your battery is fully charged so it can start easily in cold weather. Have a mechanic examine your ignition system, spark plugs, wiring, and other components.

  • Get plenty of rest. Fatigue leads to accidents. Get a full night’s sleep before getting behind the wheel.

  • Watch your exhaust. Don’t warm up your car in a garage or other small, enclosed space. The carbon monoxide can be dangerous.

  • Limit cruise control. Don’t rely on cruise control when driving on slippery roads. Be alert and ready to stop or change course in the event of anything unexpected.

  • Clean up. Make sure your lights and windows are clean and clear so you can see everything on the road, especially at night. Make sure your windshield wipers are in good condition.

Find the Right Balance in Your Life

Find the Right Balance in Your Life

The typical family today puts in a lot more hours a year at work than ever before – frequently by working at two or more jobs. So finding a balance between work and life can be complicated. But balance is essential to our well-being. Here are some ways to get on the right track:

Simplify. Need help with the housecleaning? Consider hiring a cleaning company to tackle your chores. Letting someone else handle the cleaning frees you to spend time doing what you value.

Be grateful. Even in the midst of the most hectic and stressful times of life, there are things for which we can be thankful. Reflecting on the good things in our lives helps keep an all-important balance in our outlook.

Play with your kids. Get down in the dirt and help the kids make mud pies, watch a movie with them, have a long chat over coffee with your teen, and so forth. Give your family more one-on-one time.

Pay attention to your health. Maintain a sensible diet and a consistent exercise schedule. If you don’t stay healthy, you’ll be less able to handle the stress of work and home.

Stop procrastinating. You’ll frequently spend more energy fretting over not doing a project than actually doing it. So eliminate the worry and just get started.
